My journey in this marketing adventure started out with a work from home business three years ago. I put my heart and soul into it for a full year. Before entering into this marketing adventure, I had spent over 15 years as an announcer at a Christian FM Radio station just outside of Atlanta. I loved helping people. I loved being a source of encouragement and spiritual light!

Needless to say, I missed making money and missed ministry.

So in my honest search of wondering if I could make real money on the internet, I started to read and study other methods of marketing. My eyes became opened to other means of business and marketing techniques online.

Soon I was deep studying SEO, reading books by Ann Sieg, and Mike Filsame’s Butterfly Manuscript, etc etc.

I spent a fair dime and lots of my time learning by myself the basics of what it does take to make real money on the internet.

I thoroughly enjoyed my venture. Highlights of my study include learning video marketing through Traffic Geyser, studying SEO with John Reese’s traffic secrets, watching endless amazing free videos from Jeff Johnson, and teaching myself how to ftp (upload) my own wordpress.org blog.

I did come to another place of exhaustion. I was still enjoying the learning, and I was still hustling my tail off in my work.

But I was not seeing the kind of results I’d like to see with the amount of time I was putting into it.

Well, during a time of serious transition with my family, I found a few webinars (not sure how I got them) from a name I was familiar with: Stephen Pierce.

Basically, I watched those two webinars about blogging and would stay up until 2 and 3 in the morning totally thrilled by what I was watching.

The results got me so excited.

Passion

What are you passionate about or what do you enjoy doing? If you find something that you enjoy, where the time just flies by, you probably have found a passion.

I have a brother (the oldest of four brothers)who gave me some valuable wisdom at a young age. He told me if I found something I loved, and could make a living doing it, I needed to pursue it.

So one of the first jobs I applied for after my golfing career faded was at a FM Christian Music Radio Station as an announcer. The only demo I had for the station manager to listen to in that first interview was one of those home-made KYSS tapes.

I got the job! I was so excited making a living, making a profit, while at a hobby, now turned job, which I loved! (Needless to say I had a passion for Christian Music Radio! I spent 15 1/2 years at that same station!)

Profit

That passion leads to the second p: profit. Will your passion profit you? Can it turn into a home based business? I don’t just mean this in the sense of money. Will your passion promote personal development. Can you learn a new skill. As Success Coach Dani Johnson says, "The marketplace pays for value. Your value is your skill."

If you can learn a new skill or enhance one centered around thatpassion of something you enjoy, you have the ingredients to making a profit and to get out of debt.

You could be that stay at home mom who has a passion for writing or encouraging people with thoughtful crafts.. Can that love for being an encourager be turned into a computer based home business? Yes, there is a company called SendOut Cards. I love the motto of this home based business: "Changing Lives One Card At A Time."

Or you can turn your love of writing to blog to make money online. Yes, I’ve seen people do that. I personally love blogs. I have just learned how to set up a blog once and put it into automatic mode. My coach, Stephen Pierce, calls it the "How to Create Set it & Forget it Website Cash Machines!" Yes, you can stretch yourself, learn precise skills and do this!!

Maybe you enjoy people and serving with excellence in all you do. You may be a stay at home mom who has a passion for making money online for the family,, or considering other exciting business ventures.

If you enjoy what you are doing, you get up each morning excited. You are ready for the opportunity to put into motion your market plan to grow and impact those around you positively as you work toward your goal to get out of debt or to find financial freedom to go in the direction of God’s destiny for you.

Ken Blanchard, the co-author of the "One Minute Manager" states: "Profit is applause for taking care of customers and creating a motivating environment for employees."

Employees, clients, co-workers….which leads us to the third "P" in this market plan for a stay at home mom….

People

How well do you deal with people? You will never be successful in any market plan in business if you don’t serve and help other people. The most successful entrepreneurs understand that business is more about what they give than what they get.

As a mom, you can understand this well in dealing with your children. You often have to "die" to your own needs to raise your babies to be children, your children to be teens, and your teens to be…adults!

This amazingly simple but sometimes difficult to perform point can be found rooted as a basic Biblical principle.

Check out Philippians 2:4: "Let each of you look out not only for your own interests, but also for the interests of others."

Again, the principle is seen in Romans 12:10: "Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another…"

I think you understand perfectly. The Bible is full of verses relating to thinking more of others than yourself!

Finally, the final "P"!

Perseverance in priorities

I slipped an extra "p" in this market plan. Persevere in what God has called you to do. Stay committed, passionate, diligent…without losing your faith, family and friends. Be consistent with the basics of your market plan all the while keeping your priorities in line.

Serve and maintain your relationship with God. Serve and love your husband, your children, your family and friends. Don’t let your longing (financial freedom. money, material things) for something in the future slay your appetite for enjoying the now!

Amidst your working at home, stay on a schedule that keeps you doing what makes the profit, and still leave time for your family. It can be done!

Making Money On The Web:  Step 1

Step One for making money on the web with the Six Market Plan  covers the key question of knowing who is your target market.

If you want to present your business information, products, or ministry online to people, you have to narrow it down to WHO you really want to reach.

This is a cornerstone to your marketing plan using the power of the internet to promote your business, services, Christian music, or ministry online, as well as targeting the audience for which you desire to help.

The best thing to do is to take out a piece of paper and ask yourself some questions. Such as, are they male, female? What religion are they? Where do they live? What’s the age bracket your are trying to reach? How much money do they make?

You can discover your target market by exploring these factors:

• What Do They Want?

  What do you have in a service, ministry, or product that will impact someone’s life, change their life for the better.

• What Are Their Unique Problems?

  For example, I have other market products where I try to help those who struggle with losing weight, or lack of energy or in need of nutrition.

  I’m a former pro golfer so I love the market field of golf. I have a number of video series and products to help golfers have a better swing, putt better, or just basically lower their golf scores.

  You get the idea. Find out what specific problem people in your focus group have and find the best solution for it. It’s important to note that sometimes your target audience may not be looking for a problem solver but a "luxury item".

• What Do Your Target Clients Currently Purchase?

  Find the things your target market buys frequently that is specific to your market, or your service, ministry etc.

• What Can You Exclude From Your Market

  Do they only speak Spanish? Only live in the United States? The more you can figure out the targeted persons that can be excluded the easier you will be to market to your targeted group.

   

• Where Do They Go Online?

  Your target market is probably online already. Where do they spend their time specific to your ministry or product? You need to go where they are already to find ways to attract them to your site.

  You can find them where they read or participate in:

  Forums

  Blogs

  Articles

  Videos

  E-mail Campaings

  Websites

• Who Are Your Competitors?

  Who are the major players in your particular ministry or market?What do they offer and how? What specific products or services to they sell easily? Who has top rankings? Who pays for adwords? Who and what sites link to?

  These are important questions to answer. If you can answer them with the most specific details and know how your competition is successful in your market, then you can do the same or improve on what they are doing.
